The Experiment Continues…
Another day, another headache.
Sometimes I wonder if the paycheck is worth the years the job is taking off of my life. Aggravation contrasted by period of sheer tedium take their toll.
Today, my head is absolutely spinning around. It is amazing how many changes in direction can happen in a few weeks times. A group of us sat around my desk a few weeks ago in an inpromtu meeting and decided to do things one way. So we are talking about it in a meeting today and nobody told me they had changed it to another (not as good) way. So it took me 10 minutes to realize that I wasn't talking about the same thing as everyone else. Then another 10 to figure out what they had changed and why. Then another 10 to explain why I thought it was a bad idea to change it. Then 30 seconds to realize that I wasn't going to win this one. Of course the person who this will be most a pain in the butt for is yours truly.
I love my job. I love my job. I love my job.
It's not working.
Aside from the job things are going along on their merry way.
I had a terrific weekend hanging out with Boogieshoes and Sock Momma.
Friday night I left my normal comfy zone and the three of us went to see the Prince of Porn – John Valby. Now, I am familiar with Mr. Valby and have heard his songs in the past. And quite frankly, I’ve always thought he was hysterical. So I knew full well what I was getting into. But this is not the sort of show I would normally shell out money for. Bottom line, Valby was great. Very funny. The bar we saw him in, sucked ass. I was a pool hall that they pulled the tables out of and had a stage. They have a stage because Wednesday nights they have pool and Gentlemen’s entertainment. At least according to Bass Man. Who doesn’t really know, of course, but a friend told him about it. Sure, dude! Did I mention the pole in the middle of the stage? Yep, a pole. And I’m not talking about the Big W either. Like five of you are going to get that one. Then again if five people are even reading this I’d be happy.
But the bar sucked. We got there 30 minutes after the doors opened and 2 hours before showtime and there was no place to sit. I had to scam a chair for Boogieshoes from a bouncer. They had a mediocre band playing while we waited for the show. But there was no air circulating and it was boring waiting. Finally the two hours elapsed and the show started and I enjoyed it.
Boogieshoes is not much of a moviegoer so Sock Momma and I went off on Saturday to see Harry Potter. We had planned this for while because we both wanted to see the movie and Bass man is off on the road with his band. I enjoyed the movie. It was fun and even thought it was long I thought it went pretty good.
Then Saturday night we sat around and talked into the night by candle light when the power went out during the storms. It was relaxing and nice.
Sunday, we all went to bowling practice and then out to Bennigans for lunch.
For the none of you out there who care, it was a rough day bowling for me. I had the added problem of trying to bowl my regular games while working with the bowlers in wheelchairs when we lost a coach to a medical issue unexpectedly. So I was running back and forth trying to do both. I really struggled with the first game and came in at 126. I came back better in the second with a solid 171. And the last game was in the middle at 158.
So this week was our last practice. Next week is the big state-wide tournament. So I’m sure you will all be waiting with baited breath for my last bowling update next week.
Then I have a few weeks off to enjoy the holidays before Winter sports start. Typically, I coach Floor Hockey but there is a chance I may be needed and would rather do for Cross Country Skiing. Which would be interesting as I’ve never skied before. But I do have Head Coaching experience that will be needed dealing with the paperwork and phone calls and other administrative junk. I just hope I know soon what is going on.
Until next time…
And now for something completely different...
SIR LAUNCELOT:
Look, my liege!
[trumpets]
ARTHUR:
Camelot!
SIR GALAHAD:
Camelot!
LAUNCELOT:
Camelot!
PATSY:
It's only a model.
ARTHUR:
Shh! Knights, I bid you welcome to your new home.
Let us ride... to... Camelot!
[in medieval hall]
KNIGHTS: [singing]
We're Knights of the Round Table.
We dance whene'er we're able.
We do routines and chorus scenes
With footwork impeccable.
We dine well here in Camelot.
We eat ham and jam and spam a lot.
[dancing]
We're Knights of the Round Table.
Our shows are formidable,
But many times we're given rhymes
That are quite unsingable.
We're opera mad in Camelot.
We sing from the diaphragm a lot.
[in dungeon]
PRISONER:
[clap clap clap clap]
[in medieval hall]
KNIGHTS: [tap-dancing]
In war we're tough and able,
Quite indefatigable.
Between our quests we sequin vests and impersonate Clark Gable.
It's a busy life in Camelot.
MAN:
I have to push the pram a lot.
[outdoors]
ARTHUR:
Well, on second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.
KNIGHTS:
Right. Right.
